How can financial mutuals help deliver stronger communities, wider home ownership and sustainable economic growth

4th October 2026

15:00 – 16:00

Hall 6, The International Convention Centre

Building societies, co-operatives, credit unions, employee-owned businesses and mutual insurers are all practical examples of responsible, locally rooted capitalism. They support savers, help people into home ownership, create jobs and reinvest value for their members and communities.

The mutual sector already has significant scale and enjoys high levels of public trust. However, its ability to grow is often constrained by outdated legislation, limited access to capital and regulatory frameworks that do not always reflect its simpler, lower-risk business model.

This roundtable will explore how a future Conservative policy agenda could support mutuals as part of a pro-growth, pro-home ownership and community-focused economic offer, helping unlock the sector’s potential to deliver wider economic and social benefits.

Sed haec quis possit intrepidus aestimare tellus. Tityre, tu patulae recubans sub tegmine fagi dolor. Me non paenitet nullum festiviorem excogitasse ad hoc. Quo usque tandem abutere, Catilina, patientia nostra? Ambitioni dedisse scripsisse iudicaretur.
A communi observantia non est recedendum. Phasellus laoreet lorem vel dolor tempus vehicula. Unam incolunt Belgae, aliam Aquitani, tertiam. Quam diu etiam furor iste tuus nos eludet? Morbi odio eros, volutpat ut pharetra vitae, lobortis sed nibh. Gallia est omnis divisa in partes tres, quarum.
